NTPC Limited (NSE: NTPC) today announced a significant boost to its renewable energy portfolio with the declaration of commercial operation for two solar power capacities totaling 288.9 MW in Gujarat. The capacities were commissioned by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), a step-down subsidiary of NTPC Limited through its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited.
The first part capacity of 142.2 MW, part of the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project under the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V Project, has been declared commercially operational. This project is located in Khavda, Bhuj, Gujarat.
Concurrently, the second part capacity of 146.7 MW from the 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project, also located in Gujarat and developed under the CPSU scheme Phase-II Tranche-III, has achieved commercial operation.
Both capacities became commercially operational effective 00:00 Hrs on June 28, 2025. This strategic expansion aligns with NTPC’s broader goals of increasing its green energy footprint and contributing to India’s renewable energy targets.
Following the announcement, NTPC’s shares were trading at ₹332.7, reflecting a marginal decrease of 0.7%.
