NTPC Boosts Generation Capacity with Commercial Operation of Barh Super Thermal Power Project Unit 3

New Delhi – NTPC Limited, India’s largest power generator, announced on June 26, 2025, that Unit #3 (660 MW) of its Barh Super Thermal Power Project, Stage-I (3x660 MW), has been declared on commercial operation. The unit commenced commercial operations effective 00:00 Hrs on July 1, 2025.

This latest addition significantly enhances NTPC’s generation capabilities. With the commissioning of this unit, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC on a standalone basis will reach 60,978 MW. Furthermore, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group, which includes its subsidiaries and joint ventures, will now stand at 82,080 MW.

The Barh Super Thermal Power Project is a crucial asset in NTPC’s portfolio, contributing to the nation’s energy security. The declaration of commercial operation for Unit #3 is in line with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

Shares of NTPC were trading at ₹332.7, reflecting a marginal decline of 0.7% at the time of this announcement.
