Bharat Bijlee Boosts Transformer Capacity to 35000 MVA! ⚡

Hey there, investors and industry watchers! 👋 Big news from Bharat Bijlee Limited (BBL) that’s set to power up their future. The company just announced a significant boost to its transformer manufacturing capacity at its Airoli factory in Navi Mumbai.

Powering Up Production!

BBL’s Board of Directors, in a meeting held on August 25, 2025, gave the green light for an additional capital expenditure of ₹65 Crores. This fresh investment will supercharge their transformer capacity, taking it from 28000 MVA all the way up to an impressive 35000 MVA! 🚀

Now, if you’re thinking, “Wait, didn’t they expand recently?” – you’d be right! This latest move builds on a previous expansion. Back on May 17, 2024, the Board had already approved a ₹170 Crores capex to ramp up capacity from 18000 MVA to 28000 MVA. So, combining both phases, Bharat Bijlee is adding a whopping 17000 MVA to its initial 18000 MVA capacity, culminating in a grand total of 35000 MVA!

The Numbers Game:

Why the Expansion?

The rationale is clear and simple: “To cater to growing demand for Transformers.” With an existing capacity utilization of 80% on their initial 18000 MVA, it’s evident that Bharat Bijlee needs more firepower to meet market needs. This strategic move positions BBL to capitalize on the increasing demand for transformers, which are crucial components in power transmission and distribution networks.

As this news broke, BBL’s stock was trading around ₹2797.8, showing a slight uptick of 0.1%. It’s an exciting time for Bharat Bijlee as they gear up for a future of enhanced production and market leadership! ✨
