Hey there, energy enthusiasts! π We’ve got some exciting news from Selan Exploration Technology Limited (SELAN) that’s set to shake up their production landscape.
Selan has officially announced the commencement of gas production from the Mukkamala Field, nestled within the Dangeru Contract Area in the onshore Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin. And here’s the kicker: this isn’t just another production start-up; it’s Selan’s very first production outside the Cambay Basin! Talk about expanding horizons! π
This new milestone is a direct result of Selan’s strategic merger with Antelopus Energy Private Limited, which brought the Dangeru Contract Area into Selan’s portfolio with a 100% participating interest. The company successfully completed a workover and hydraulic fracturing of the Muk-1 well, tapping into the prolific Raghavapuram Shale reservoir.
So, what kind of numbers are we looking at? The initial tested flow rate is impressive, coming in at ~0.5 MMscfd (~80 boepd) at a wellhead pressure of ~5000 psig. But that’s just the start! Based on current well performance, the expected single well flow potential is in excess of 6 MMscfd (~1000 boepd). That’s a significant boost!
Getting this gas to market is already underway. The well is connected to an existing ONGC flowline, leading to ONGC’s Pasarlapudi processing facilities. From there, end customers will receive the gas through GAIL’s existing pipeline system in the onshore KG basin. Smooth sailing! π’
Looking ahead, Selan plans to ramp up production using the current system in the short term, with new infrastructure on the cards for the longer term. Their focus is clear: enhance gas sales and maximize resource monetization from this ~140 sq. km. contract area, which includes both the Mukkamala and Dangeru gas discoveries.
This move truly underscores Selan’s commitment to strategic growth, efficient resource development, and creating value for its shareholders. It’s a testament to their operational capabilities extending beyond their traditional base. Keep an eye on Selan as they continue to make waves in the energy sector! β¨
