Big news from the water technology front! VA Tech WABAG Limited (WABAG) has just announced a significant win that’s making waves in the industry. The company has secured a Letter of Award for a massive 300 Million Litres per Day (MLD) Mega Sea Water Desalination Plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. πΈπ¦
This isn’t just any project; it’s valued at approximately USD 272 Million, which translates to about SAR 1,019 Million or a whopping INR 2,332 Crores! The contract comes from the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) and is set to be developed at Yanbu, along Saudi Arabia’s west coast.
So, what does this mean for WABAG? The scope of work is comprehensive, covering the entire journey from design and engineering to supply, construction, and finally, commissioning of this crucial desalination plant. Once the contracting formalities are complete, the project is expected to be executed within 30 months from the effective date.
This isn’t WABAG’s first rodeo in the region, and as Mr. Rohan Mittal, Head of Strategy and Business Growth for GCC, highlighted, it’s a “repeat success.” This win truly underscores WABAG’s strong technical expertise, competitive edge, and deep-rooted capabilities in handling large and complex desalination projects globally. π
More importantly, this project aligns perfectly with Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom’s ambitious plan for economic diversification and development. For WABAG, it’s a clear reinforcement of their position as a global leader in the vital desalination sector. It’s exciting to see Indian companies making such significant contributions on the international stage! β¨
