Big news from the waste management sector! 🚀 Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited (AWHCL) has announced a significant win for its material subsidiary, Antony Lara Enviro Solutions Private Limited. They’ve just bagged two major Waste-to-Energy (WTE) projects in Andhra Pradesh, marking a substantial step forward in India’s sustainable energy journey.

These aren’t just any projects; we’re talking about two ~15 MW Waste-to-Energy plants, one each in the Kadapa and Kurnool Clusters. The total value of these contracts? A whopping ~₹3,200 crore over a 20-year concession period, with each project contributing ₹1,600 crore. The New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NREDCAP) is the awarding authority, underscoring the government’s push for green initiatives.

So, what exactly do these projects entail? Antony Lara will be processing municipal solid waste (MSW) through advanced Material Recovery Facilities (MRF) and then incinerating the non-recyclable waste in high-efficiency units to generate renewable electricity. Think of it as turning trash into treasure – literally! 💡 The power generated will be purchased by the Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) at ₹8.10 per unit.

The construction phase for each project is set for approximately 24 months, kicking off from the date of concession agreement signing, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) execution, or land transfer, whichever comes later. This long-term commitment highlights the sustainable nature of these ventures.

Beyond the financial figures, the environmental impact is huge. These facilities are designed to divert thousands of tonnes of waste from landfills daily, significantly reducing methane and CO2 emissions. This aligns perfectly with the Government of India’s renewable energy targets and the Swachh Bharat Mission, contributing to a cleaner, greener future for all.

Jose Jacob, Chairman & Managing Director of Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited, emphasized the company’s pride in being selected, highlighting their technical leadership and commitment to sustainable waste management. He noted that these projects will not only expand the company’s renewable energy footprint and diversify revenue streams but also create lasting value for stakeholders, reinforcing Antony Waste’s role as a key driver in India’s clean energy transition.

This move also marks Antony Group’s strategic entry into Southern India, expanding both its geographical reach and its capabilities in waste processing. It’s an exciting development that showcases how innovation in waste management can power a more sustainable tomorrow.
