NTPC Subsidiaries Commission 97.5 MW Solar Capacity in Gujarat

NTPC Limited (NSE: NTPC) today announced significant strides in its renewable energy portfolio, with its step-down subsidiary, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL), declaring the commercial operation of 97.5 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity across two projects in Gujarat.

The announcement, made on July 1, 2025, detailed two key capacity additions, both effective from 00:00 Hrs on June 30, 2025:

Firstly, the second part capacity of 32.80 MW from the 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, which falls under the larger 450 MW Hybrid Tranche-V Project, has been declared commercially operational. This project is located in Khavda, Bhuj, Gujarat. Previously, the first part capacity of 142.2 MW from this same project was commissioned on June 28, 2025.

Secondly, the third part capacity of 64.7 MW from the 1255 MW Khavda-I Solar PV Project has also achieved commercial operation. This project, part of the CPSU scheme Phase-II Tranche-III, is situated in Gujarat. Earlier, the first part capacity of 110.25 MW and the second part capacity of 146.7 MW of this project were declared operational on June 6, 2025, and June 28, 2025, respectively.

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), which in turn is a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, underscoring the company’s strategic focus on expanding its green energy footprint.

At the time of the announcement, NTPC shares were trading at ₹332.7, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.7%.
